NEWSLETTER, YEAR 2, ISSUE 11 – GENERAL

Summer is here. That means making the most of the lovely weather and enjoying some great holidays. But what does the summer mean for working out at Taus Gym? We’ll be keeping you up to date on that in this newsletter.

This newsletter covers the BBQ, the exams, information about the holiday period, training during the summer, the first aid course, the Women-Only course and the training sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

BBQ

To celebrate the start of a new sporting season, we’re organising our annual BBQ again this year. As well as food and drink, a good turnout from our members is essential for a successful BBQ! The BBQ will take place on 10 September and will start at 17:00. There is a contribution of 20,- for food and drink. It is also possible to join us from 8.00 pm onwards just for drinks. For drinks after 8.00 pm, there is a contribution of 10,-.

You can register via the contact form. We hope to see you there on 10 September too!

Exams

Are you ready to take the next step in your Krav Maga training? To progress to the next level, you’ll need to sit an official IKMF exam. Here You can find more information about the IKMF itself and how to register with the IKMF.

Taus Gym also offers training courses and pre-tests, so that you can go into the exam well prepared and feeling confident. The dates for these sessions are listed below. You can register for these training sessions via the contact forumlier.

Key dates:

Training programme: Sunday 18 September 2022

Pre-test: Sunday 16 October 2022

National P2, P4 & G-level exams: Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 November 2022

Local exams P1, P3, P5: Wednesday 16 November 2022

The holiday period

We at Taus Gym will also be taking a two-week holiday this summer. The gym will be closed from 7 August to 22 August. For the two weeks leading up to this, we will have a revised timetable. You can view this in the calendar.

Whilst Taus Gym is closed, you can take some time to relax, so that you’re raring to go again after the holidays. To ensure you can catch up on any training sessions you’ve missed during the holiday period, everyone is welcome from 16 July to 12 September all attend classes, including those not covered by your membership.

Summer training sessions

Everyone’s noticing that the weather’s getting nicer and nicer. Of course, we can enjoy this to the full, but you do need to prepare properly if you’re going to exercise. So make sure you’re well hydrated when you come to class and that you’ve brought enough water with you. If you’re training on a hot day, make sure you drink 1 to 2 litres more than you normally would.

Depending on how good the weather remains, we may be able to resume outdoor training. So, during the summer months (June to September), please bring your outdoor trainers as well as your usual sports kit. The meeting point for outdoor training will remain the same as the current training venue.

In Breda, we have fixed dates for outdoor training sessions, as we are unable to train indoors on those days. These sessions will take place on Thursday 28 July, Monday 1 August, Thursday 25 August and Monday 29 August. Should these training sessions have to be cancelled due to the weather, this will be announced via email and on the website no later than two hours in advance.

First aid course

We will be organising another first aid course after the summer. This course focuses on first aid for sports injuries. This will enable us to ensure the safety of Taus Gym members. Members are also welcome to join the course, with a maximum of 10 participants. The course lasts one day and also includes an e-learning module. The cost of the course will be between 120 and 150 euros. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate that complies with European legislation. Interested in taking part? Then register via the contact form.

Training on Wednesday evenings

We would like to remind members that on Wednesday evenings, after 9.00 pm, there is an opportunity to continue training independently with a training partner. Please do make the most of this. It’s particularly useful, for example, if you have an exam coming up or if you want to practise a particular technique in more depth. PLEASE NOTE: do come to the class if you’re interested in this optional training session; not only is a warm-up important, but we also only offer this option if there’s enough interest.

It is worth noting that there are often several instructors present at the Wednesday training session. This allows us to split the group into levels, enabling you to train in a more targeted way.

So do come along to training on Wednesday evening!

Women-only course

After the summer, the Women-Only course will also be starting up again. In this course, you can focus on specific situations that women often find themselves in. The course offers self-defence tailored entirely to women’s experiences. If you’d like more information about the course itself, read here more.

The next Women-Only course runs from 26 September to 28 November 2022. All lessons in the course take place on Mondays, from 8.15 pm to 9.15 pm. Does this sound like something you’d be interested in? If so, you can here Sign up!
