Krav Maga for kids

Resilient, confident and enjoying being active

Children thrive best when they feel safe and confident. With Krav Maga Kids, children aged between 8 and 12 learn to stand up for themselves in a playful, accessible way. Not just physically, but also verbally. They build self-confidence, learn to set boundaries and deal with stressful situations, without fear, but with a clear head.

During the lessons, we focus on fitness, strength, coordination and, above all, physical and mental resilience. The sessions are fun, educational and tailored to children’s experiences.

What do children learn in Krav Maga?

The emphasis is on safety, enjoyment, self-confidence and treating others with respect.

  • How to stand firm and confident
  • How to set clear boundaries
  • Improving fitness, strength and motor skills through play
  • Practical self-defence tailored to the age group
  • How to react in difficult situations

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome, regardless of their experience or background.

Children aged 8 to 12 can join the Kids Krav Maga group.

Children aged 7 and over are welcome to attend a taster lesson. If you’re unsure about which class to join, we’ll discuss together what’s best.

Our lessons are led by experienced and qualified instructors who know how to guide children in a safe and positive way.

Is your child over 12?
In that case, have a look at Krav Maga for Young People for the programme for 12–16-year-olds.

What materials do you need?

To ensure your child can take part in Krav Maga safely and effectively, they will need suitable sportswear and protective gear.

During the training sessions, there is intensive practice in punching, kicking, teamwork and scenario-based exercises; good preparation is therefore important.

Your child doesn’t need to have any materials for a taster lesson. We’ll make sure your child can take part safely.

What do you need for a taster lesson?

  • Sportswear
  • Indoor sports shoes or clean trainers
  • A bottle of water
  • Towel

What do you need to become a member?

  • Mouthguard (mouthguard)
  • MMA gloves
  • IKMF shirt and trousers
  • Shin guards & boxing gloves

Structured growth through enjoyment and recognition

International Krav Maga Federation

Taus Gym is affiliated with the IKMF, the largest international organisation for realistic self-defence.

The IKMF develops the curriculum and organises an accredited examination system that is used worldwide.

This allows your child to develop in a focused way within a safe and familiar environment.

IKMF membership

If your child trains at an accredited IKMF school, a personal membership is compulsory. This membership:

Costs €10 per year
This is required to sit the exams
Provides access to recognised qualifications and level patches

You can sign up for membership via this link.

Levels and progression

At Krav Maga Kids, we have five levels:

• Children’s levels (K1 to K5)

Each level is tailored to the physical and mental development of children aged between 8 and 12.

  • If a child moves on from K5 to the youth group (aged 12–15), they will start at the level they have achieved minus one (e.g. K4 → J3).
  • This transition is being managed to ensure that the pace and content remain appropriate.

Exams and preparation

How do you prepare?

To be well prepared for the IKMF exam, regular attendance at Krav Maga training sessions is essential.

Taus Gym also offers targeted support through special preparatory courses, including curriculum-based training and a compulsory pre-test prior to the exam.

You may only sit an exam with the instructor’s approval. This decision is based on training time, commitment and mastery of techniques.

Information and details about pre-tests and exams

If you register for an exam or event, we’re counting on you to attend.

In the event of cancellation or a no-show, the fees will still be charged, as this causes disruption to the organisation and creates extra work.

‎A registration is therefore final.

Thank you for your understanding!

Pre-test

Once a year, Taus Gym organises a pre-test. This is a mock exam, designed to see if you’re ready.
