Since Taus Gym was founded in 2010, I have been working as the manager and an all-round instructor. Over the years, our gym has grown into a welcoming and friendly environment where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to work on their health, safety and resilience. I am incredibly grateful to be part of this experience and, secretly, a little proud that we have managed to achieve this success together.
I grew up in a deprived neighbourhood in Tilburg Noord, where aggression and violence were the order of the day. Practising martial arts such as taekwondo and kickboxing has played a crucial role in both my physical and mental development. These experiences have shaped me and were a key motivation for setting up Taus Gym.
“As an instructor, I get the greatest satisfaction from seeing members push their limits and achieve their goals. It’s about much more than just physical results; it’s a process of personal growth, self-confidence and resilience.
For some, that journey begins by taking that first step outside their comfort zone, such as attending their first class. For others, the challenge lies in passing a Krav Maga exam, taking part in an obstacle run, a grappling competition or preparing for fitness tests for the police or the armed forces.
”At Taus Gym, we believe in a safe and stimulating environment where everyone is given the space to develop in their own way. It’s inspiring to see our members grow, both physically and mentally. It is precisely that development – and the successes that come with it – that motivate me day in, day out.”
My passion for (combat) sports began at a young age. After completing my Bachelor of Health in Sports Science, I discovered Krav Maga, and in 2010 I completed my instructor training under the guidance of Eyal Yanilov. In 2016, I obtained my Expert Level certification from the IKMF in Israel under the guidance of Avi Moyal.
To further expand my expertise, I completed the post-bachelor’s course in Aggression Management Training at the Pons Academy in 2023. Since then, I have been helping people not only with physical self-defence, but also with recognising, preventing and de-escalating aggressive situations.
Over the years, I have delivered training courses for a wide range of organisations, including educational institutions, healthcare organisations, the armed forces, law enforcement and the business sector. I also have experience as a reservist in the armed forces.
As the owner and instructor at Taus Gym, I enjoy helping people to become stronger, more resilient and more confident, both physically and mentally.
