NEWSLETTER, VOLUME 2, ISSUE 11 – CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

The school year is almost over and the summer holidays are just round the corner. We hope you’re already making the most of the lovely weather. Perhaps you’re also wondering what the summer holidays will be like at Taus Gym. In this newsletter, you’ll find information about exams, the holiday period, what training will be like over the summer, and our new mid-term Krav Maga report!

The exams

Are you ready to take your skills to the next level? To progress to a higher level in Krav Maga, you must sit an official IKMF exam. From 2023, children will need to be registered with the IKMF in order to sit a Krav Maga exam. This will also involve an annual fee of 10. This is necessary so that the federation can continue to guarantee quality and continuity. You can find more information about the benefits of IKMF membership here find.

Taus Gym offers curriculum training courses and pre-tests, so that you can go into the exam with complete confidence. The dates for these sessions are listed below. You can register for these training sessions via the contact form.

Holiday period

Taus Gym will also be closing for two weeks this summer. We will be closed from 7 August to 22 August. For the two weeks leading up to this, we will have an amended timetable. You can find the timetable in the calendar find.

During this short holiday period, you can relax and enjoy the weather, so that you’ll be ready to train properly again after the holidays. To make sure you don’t miss out on too much, you’re welcome to attend all classes from 16 July to 12 September – even those not included in your membership!

Training in the summer

The sun is shining more and more, which means the weather is getting warmer. It’s lovely to spend plenty of time outdoors and get some exercise in this weather. That’s why it’s especially important to drink enough, particularly before you come to exercise.

As the weather is so lovely, we’d also like to be able to hold training sessions outdoors during the summer months. So, from June to September inclusive, please bring your outdoor trainers with you when you come to train. The meeting point for outdoor training sessions will remain the same as the current training venue.

In Breda, we have a number of fixed days on which we can train outdoors, as we are unable to use the hall on those days. These outdoor training sessions will take place on Thursday 28 July, Monday 1 August, Thursday 25 August and Monday 29 August. Should a training session have to be cancelled due to the weather, this will be announced by email and on the website no later than two hours in advance.

Krav Maga report

We’ve noticed that parents are very curious about what we get up to in lessons and how their children are getting on. Of course, we already have the WhatsApp groups where we share what the lessons are like, but we’d like to keep both parents and children informed on a more personal level about how things are going. That’s why, from now on, we’ll be providing a quarterly report summarising each child’s progress in a brief but concise manner. This will detail how they’re getting on in lessons, whether they’re ready for the pre-test or exam, and where they currently stand. The children and young people will be given this report on paper to take home. We hope this will help make the training sessions just that little bit more personalised. The first report will be handed out before the summer holidays.

Parents who aren’t yet in the group chat can send a message to 0653974470, and we’ll add you!

Taus Gym wishes everyone a lovely, sunny and, above all, active summer!
