prepare for an exam
Would you like to progress to the next level in Krav Maga? Proper preparation for your exam starts with the pre-test. The pre-test assesses whether you have sufficiently mastered the techniques and skills required for your level and identifies any areas that may need further attention ahead of the official exam.
How can you prepare properly for the pre-test, and what can you expect on the day? Below you’ll find all the practical information and tips you need to take part in the pre-test fully prepared.
PRE-TEST
What is the pre-test?
The pre-test is an important part of preparing for the official IKMF exam. During this training session, you’ll have the chance to assess your current level and identify which areas still require extra attention.
You don’t need to have mastered all the techniques perfectly during the pre-test. That’s exactly what this session is for. The instructors will be watching, giving personalised feedback and helping you to understand your strengths and the techniques you can still work on in the run-up to the exam.
The course is largely structured in the same way as the official exam. This gives you a better idea of what to expect and allows you to use the time afterwards to focus on further preparation. In this way, you’ll work towards the official exam step by step and with greater confidence.
The next pre-test will take place on Sunday 14 February 2027.
The training session lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place between 13:00 and 19:00. You will be notified of the exact start time by email after the closing date.
Location: 11A Professor Romeinstraat, Tilburg
Clothing: Full IKMF kit is compulsory. From P2 onwards, shin guards are also compulsory.
The cost of the pre-test is €20 per level.
Afterwards, you’ll receive personalised feedback from the instructors, so you’ll know where you stand and what you can still work on in the run-up to the official exam.
You can register via the contact form. The deadline for registration is Sunday 31 January 2027.
Would you like to find out first whether you’re ready? If so, discuss this with your instructor.
You can find more information about the pre-test on the pre-test page:
Fancy some extra practice? Come along to the open training session
Would you like to do some extra work on the curriculum for your level? There is an open training session every Wednesday from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm. During this session, you can work independently on the techniques you want to practise.
An instructor will be on hand, so this is also a good opportunity to ask questions, have your techniques checked and work specifically on areas where you’re still unsure. It’s ideal as extra preparation for the pre-test or the exam.
Official IKMF examinations
Are you ready for the next step? During the official IKMF exam, your techniques, understanding and skills will be assessed. If you pass the exam, you will officially achieve your next Krav Maga level.
Depending on your level, you will sit your exam at Taus Gym in Tilburg or at a national exam in Almere. A valid IKMF membership is required to take part.
