A look back at the summer

The summer of 2025 brought us another host of special moments. For example, we were in the spotlight on RTL Nieuws and Omroep Brabant, we enjoyed a cosy summer get-together, and we got to work on new initiatives such as the Too Good To Go box.

Below you’ll find an overview of these highlights and more memories from the past few months.

RTL News & Omroep Brabant

This summer, there was a great deal of media coverage of self-defence. Both RTL Nieuws and Omroep Brabant reported on the growing importance of self-defence training. Taus Gym was also mentioned in both reports.

Fontys Krav Maga & Team-building workshop

Together with a group of students from Fontys, we organised an afternoon of Krav Maga and team-building. It was an energetic and educational experience, centred on teamwork and pushing boundaries.

Workshop especially for our members: AI in your training

We’ve got something special planned!

On Sunday 26 October from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm at the latest Bas Michielsen will be coming to our main office in Tilburg (Professor Romeinstraat 11a) to lead a workshop on the use of AI tools.

Bas is a real expert in this field and he’s offering this workshop exclusively and free of charge to our members. It’s brilliant that he’s willing to do this for us!

During the afternoon, you’ll discover how to use tools such as ChatGPT to: easily create your own training plans; keep better track of your goals and progress; learn to ask AI smart questions; and get to grips with this technology safely and responsibly.

We are very grateful to Bas for sharing his knowledge with us. It promises to be an informative and inspiring afternoon.

You can register via the contact form on the website, until 13 October.

There is a limited number of places available, so once they’re full, they’re full.

Eva’s work placement

Eva has recently started an internship at Taus Gym. You’ll be seeing her regularly at the gym and in various classes over the coming weeks. In this newsletter, she’d like to introduce herself to you all:
Hi everyone!

My name is Eva Dielemans, I’m 17 years old and I live in Deurne. I’ve been doing an internship at Taus Gym since the end of August and I’m in my second year of the Sport and Exercise course at Yonder.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll see me around more often on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the main office in Tilburg. I’m looking forward to learning a lot, developing myself and, of course, getting to know you all better.

Please feel free to say hello if you see me at the gym. I’d love to get to know you and look forward to having a fun and active time together!

Sharing together: the new Too Good To Go box

At our main site in Tilburg, you’ll now find the Too Good To Go box: an initiative by the community, for the community.

The idea is simple: put items you no longer use yourself but which are still perfectly good and deserve a second life into the box. Think of sportswear that no longer fits, accessories or handy bits and bobs. Other members can then take something out of it that they can put to good use. In this way, we contribute to sustainability together and strengthen the sense of community within our group.

We hope the box will be put to good use: it’s a case of give and take. What one person no longer needs might be exactly what another person needs.

Please note: it is best to leave personal items such as mouthguards or caps at home. Furthermore, anything found in the box is used at your own risk; Taus Gym accepts no liability for damage or defects.

And don’t forget to have a look in the lost property box every now and then. You wouldn’t believe the valuable items we sometimes find in there…

New Taus Gym website

You’ve probably already noticed: our new website is live! With a fresh new look, improved structure and clear information, it’s now even easier to find everything you’re looking for.

What, amongst other things, has been improved?

  • A clear and organised homepage featuring all our training courses and memberships.

  • New text and photos that better show who we are and what we do.

  • Handy online forms for taster lessons and enrolments.

  • A greater focus on user-friendliness and atmosphere, so you can get a good impression of our gym straight away.

Have a quick look at www.tausgym.nl and let us know what you think – feedback is always welcome!

Farewell & thanks
After almost 10 years, we are saying goodbye to our website manager and hosting provider, Stofloos. We look back on a great collaboration, but it was time to move on. We are absolutely delighted with our new website partner, Byrt.nl, run by a familiar face at our gym: Michael Rademaker. We have created the new site together with him.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to our member Maarten Zijlmans from Trender.nl for all the tips and tools he let us use, and of course to our very own Emma, who did the bulk of the work to present everything as clearly and concisely as possible.

New Year’s drinks reception

We’d love to ring in the New Year in style, together with you! At our annual members’ drinks reception, we’ll take a brief look back at 2025 and raise a glass to a sporty, sociable and educational 2026.

With snacks, drinks and plenty of fun, we’re organising the drinks party on Saturday 17 January 2026 at our premises in Tilburg (Professor Romeinstraat 11A).

All members aged 16 and over are very welcome from 7.00 pm. The contribution is €15.

Winter outdoor training 2026

In January, we’ll be braving the cold once again with our annual Winter Outdoor Training session! During this special session, we’ll be taking Krav Maga out onto the streets and training in conditions that are as realistic as possible.

So, as well as your sportswear, make sure you bring your everyday clothes too. Dress in layers so that you can easily put something on or take something off during training. That way, you’ll get a feel for what it’s like to apply techniques in conditions that are closer to real-life situations.

The winter outdoor training takes place during the regular lessons. Furthermore, there is no need to register for this training.

Below are the dates on which the winter outdoor training sessions will take place:

‎ ‎

  • Breda: Monday 26 January 2026

  • Tilburg: Tuesday 27 January 2026

Tip: bring your usual sports kit as well; if the weather’s bad, we’ll train indoors.

Discover our full range

As a member of Taus Gym, you have access to a wide range of training sessions. Whether you opt for Krav Maga, punching bag training, grappling or the FIT classes, you’re always welcome to try something different. Many members discover a new favourite or a great addition to their current routine this way.

Combi Flex membership
Our Combi Flex membership is becoming increasingly popular. It allows you to attend three training sessions a week, of your own choosing. You’re not tied to a single type of training or fixed days, which is ideal if you like variety or have a varied schedule.

Update your membership
You may find that you want to come more often, or that a different type of training suits you better. You can always adjust your membership: upgrade, switch to Combi Flex, or choose another option that suits your goals. We’ll be happy to sort it out for you.

Trust
For us, it’s all about trust. There are no turnstiles or scanners to monitor how many training sessions you’ve attended. Not sure which membership you have? Check the copy of your registration form or confirmation email, or just get in touch with us.

Communication when changing
We’d love it if you tried a different class! We do ask that you always let us know in advance by email via info@tausgym.nl and to wait for our confirmation. This also applies to young people who wish to move on to the adult training sessions.

Why not try a different workout to your usual one this week and let us know what you thought of it?.

Explore all the options on our revamped membership page.

Would you like to change your membership? You can do so via the contact form.

Updated terms and conditions and house rules

To make everything as clear and straightforward as possible, we have updated our Terms and Conditions and Gym Rules. This way, you’ll know exactly where you stand, and together we can keep the gym a pleasant and safe place for everyone.

A few points we have refined:

  • Memberships and changes always take effect from the start of a full calendar month.

  • If you fall ill or suffer an injury, you can temporarily put your membership on hold.

  • There is a clear policy on pro-rata payments for new subscriptions or upgrades in the middle of the month.

  • New and clear house rules on hygiene, respect and the safe use of equipment.

You can find the full versions here: Terms and Conditions and House Rules.

You can find the abridged version of the Terms and Conditions here.

Holiday timetable

There will be a revised timetable during the autumn and Christmas holidays. So please check the calendar carefully so that you can plan your training sessions in good time.

An added bonus: during the holiday periods, as well as the week before and after, you can take part in all training sessions (regardless of your membership)! That means that, as well as your own classes, you can also take part in Krav Maga, FIT and Grappling. It’s a great opportunity to try something new or get in some extra training.

  • Autumn half-term: 11 October to 19 October 2025
  • Christmas holidays: 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026

Autumn Strength

The days are getting shorter, the air is crisper and we prefer to spend more time indoors. It’s particularly important to get enough nutrients to keep our immune systems strong.

‎ ‎

Autumn fruit and vegetables are ideal: they’re warming, full of flavour and good for your health. And that’s exactly what your body needs right now.

What’s more, seasonal produce is often cheaper and more sustainable – which is a nice bonus!

Here is a list of some seasonal fruit and vegetables;
  • Kale is a real vitamin C powerhouse. Vitamin C plays a major role in boosting your immune system. It also helps the body absorb iron from plant-based foods. So combining kale with lentils or beans is particularly effective.
  • Also beetroot deserves a place on the menu. This vegetable contains nitrates that improve your sporting performance and stamina. What’s more, beetroot is packed with antioxidants that can reduce inflammation and support your immune system.
  • Apples and pears are typical autumn fruits. Not only do they taste delicious, but they’re also good for your gut thanks to the fibre known as pectin. This aids digestion and helps maintain stable cholesterol levels. Warm apples also have a soothing effect on gut problems. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and you’ve got a lovely snack.
  • Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in your body. This vitamin helps keep your skin and mucous membranes healthy – your first line of defence against viruses. Vitamin A is also important for your eyesight.
Other typical autumn vegetables and fruit include broccoli, all types of cabbage (cauliflower, etc.), parsnips, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, carrots, leeks, lamb’s lettuce, swede, pak choi, grapes, melon, mandarins, blackberries, plums and figs.

Choose the best of the season and give your body what it needs. With
When you put autumn fruit and veg on your plate, you’re not just serving up something tasty, but also something
what’s really good for you.
