Resilience & safety
A group of members from Taus Gym recently travelled to Poland together for a special training weekend. It was a weekend centred on training, gaining new experiences and, of course, having a good time.
Over the weekend, we focused on resilience and how to respond under stress and pressure. Whilst we already devote a great deal of attention to realistic situations during our regular Krav Maga sessions, this weekend offered the opportunity to practise different scenarios in a different setting.
Training under pressure
An important part of the training was learning how to deal with situations where it is important to act quickly and in a controlled manner. After all, reacting under pressure is very different from practising a technique calmly in the training hall.
Among other things, the training involved scenarios centring on a home invasion by armed intruders. The focus was on safety, responding to threats and the choices one has to make in such a stressful situation.
The session also covered what to do when a weapon is disarmed during a scenario. How do you ensure that the weapon is subsequently secured and prevent a dangerous situation from arising again? The main focus here was on acting deliberately and maintaining control once the immediate threat has passed.
A successful weekend
As well as the training sessions, it was, of course, just great fun to be out and about with a group of members. The participants were enthusiastic, they trained hard, and there was plenty of time for socialising outside the training sessions.
It was a special experience and, above all, a very successful weekend that we look back on with great pleasure.
