Krav Maga for young people

Stronger, both verbally and physically, in a challenging world

Adolescence is an important and vulnerable stage of development. Young people are increasingly coming into contact with strangers, peer pressure and inappropriate behaviour on their own. Through Krav Maga, they learn to defend themselves in threatening situations – both verbal and physical – in a practical and accessible way.

But they learn more than that: during the classes, young people also build self-confidence, resilience, fitness and strength. Krav Maga for Young People is the ideal training programme for both mental and physical development in a safe and positive environment.

What you’ll learn

The training sessions are intensive, educational and focus on self-control, respect and teamwork. We also practise:

  • Dealing with peer pressure and inappropriate behaviour
  • Learning to act assertively and confidently
  • Applying techniques in realistic scenarios
  • Responding verbally and physically to dangerous situations
  • Working on strength, fitness and coordination

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome, regardless of their experience or background.

This group is specifically for young people aged 12 to 16. Everyone is welcome, whether or not they have any sporting experience. We provide a safe and positive training environment in which everyone can develop.

In our lessons, we take into account differences in age, experience and self-confidence. We work in levels, just as we do with the adults.

Aged 11 or under? Then take a look at Krav Maga for kids.

Are you 16 or over? If so, you can take part in Krav Maga for Adults.

What materials do you need?

To ensure your child can take part in Krav Maga safely and effectively, they will need suitable sportswear and protective gear.

The training sessions involve intensive and realistic exercises, so thorough preparation is essential.

Your child doesn’t need to have any materials for a taster lesson. We’ll make sure your child can take part safely.

What does your child need for a taster lesson?

  • Sportswear
  • Indoor sports shoes or clean trainers
  • A bottle of water
  • Towel

Do you already have the materials we’ll be using during the training? If so, you’re welcome to bring them along, of course.

What does your child need as a member?

  • Chef’s hat (groin guard)
  • Mouthguard (mouthguard)
  • MMA gloves
  • IKMF shirt and trousers
  • Outdoor trainers
  • Shin guards, boxing gloves

Growth, recognition and quality within Krav Maga

International Krav Maga Federation

Taus Gym is affiliated with the IKMF, the largest and most recognised Krav Maga organisation in the world.

The IKMF develops the curriculum, monitors quality and organises the official examinations.

Thanks to this international structure, young people can develop within a clear, recognised system of grades.

IKMF membership

If your child trains at an IKMF-accredited school, a personal IKMF membership is compulsory.

This membership:

  • Costs €10 per year
  • Is required to sit exams
  • Provides access to recognised qualifications and national or international career progression opportunities

You can find more information about membership and registration here.

Grades within the IKMF

Within the youth group, we work with different levels:

  • Junior levels (J1 to J5)
Each level builds on the previous one and is tailored to the physical and mental development of young people aged between 12 and 15.
  • Children moving up from Kids Krav Maga start at the level they have achieved, minus one (e.g. K4 → J3)
  • Young people who later move up to the adult group continue in a similar way (e.g. J3 → P2), with additional preparation

Exams and preparation

How do you prepare?

To be well prepared for the IKMF exam, regular attendance at Krav Maga training sessions is essential.

Taus Gym also offers targeted support through special preparatory courses, including curriculum-based training and a compulsory pre-test prior to the exam.

You may only sit an exam with the instructor’s approval. This decision is based on training time, commitment and mastery of techniques.

Information and details about pre-tests and exams

If you register for an exam or event, we’re counting on you to attend.
In the event of cancellation or a no-show, the fees will still be charged, as this causes disruption to the organisation and creates extra work.
A registration is therefore final.

Thank you for your understanding!

Pre-test

Once a year, Taus Gym organises a pre-test. This is a mock exam, designed to see if you’re ready.
