The past few years have demanded a great deal from us: flexibility, resilience and dedication. Fortunately, after a tough ordeal, we’re back in full force and can get back to work at full speed! We’re incredibly grateful for your support over the past period. It’s wonderful to see how many members have stayed with us and how many former members have returned. We’ve worked hard to secure our future and are seeing positive growth at the gym once again! Our aim is, of course, to continue this so that we can provide even better services in the future.
In this newsletter, we’ll be discussing the Krav Maga exams, the new grappling classes, the upcoming women-only Krav Maga course, new partnerships and our special Krav Maga and FIT challenges!

KRAV MAGA EXAMS FOR CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS
Krav Maga is a self-defence system, not a combat sport. During Krav Maga exams, we therefore focus purely on testing your mastery of the techniques, your understanding and your fighting skills, and we assess whether you are ready to learn new techniques.
To provide you with the best possible support, we offer curriculum training and pre-tests in addition to the exams. During the curriculum training, we focus on all the techniques relevant to your level. A pre-test simulates a real exam so that you can prepare thoroughly for the exams.
Anyone who wants to be well prepared can find more information at this link.
GRAPPLING CLASSES
You may have come across the term before. Following the grappling taster session, we move on to regular, weekly grappling classes. During these classes, we’ll broaden and deepen your ground fighting skills. The techniques and tools you learn here will come in handy during a grappling competition, but can also be applied on the street.
The classes are taught by Marcel de Groot. He has many years’ experience in grappling and has competed in the past. The classes are suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

COLLABORATION WITH MEREL FROM GEWOON DIËTIEK
Nutrition is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we’re delighted to announce that Merel Coenders will be opening her practice in the Taus Gym Tilburg building on 1 June! Whilst we previously had a partnership with Vivendi, we are now bringing that chapter to a close to embark on a new adventure with Merel. Soon, we’ll be offering the best of both worlds under one roof. Merel is a dietitian who specialises in sports nutrition, as well as food allergies, intolerances, gut issues and vegetarian/vegan diets. She has been a member of Taus Gym for many years and knows what it takes to keep up with the FIT classes. We look forward to working with her to support you in your health, vitality and lifestyle.
Merel is still busy setting up her practice, but you can already book an initial consultation with her. Are you curious to find out what our collaboration with Merel can offer you? Then take a look at our tips on healthy eating at @merel.eats on Instagram.
TIMETABLE
Over the coming months, there are a number of public holidays and school holidays during which there will be no lessons. You can find these in our calendar.
Are you unable to train due to the revised timetable? If so, you’re welcome to take part in our full range of classes the week before and the week after (with the exception of the women-only Krav Maga course).
FAREWELL TO NOMI & INTRODUCING SAM
You’ve probably seen her at one of our events; Nomi, the driving force behind the scenes.
Since 2019, Nomi has taken on countless roles for us, including social media marketing, marketing design, website development and copywriting. She has taken Taus Gym’s PR to the next level, and we are incredibly grateful to her for that. Nomi is now moving on to a role as a trend researcher and concept developer, focusing on social equality and sexuality. We wish Nomi the very best of luck for the future. Thank you, Nomi!
Of course, we can’t leave the back office unstaffed. Sam will be taking over Nomi’s duties. Sam is studying communications with a focus on the creative industries and will be joining us to help take the gym to the next level through marketing and communications!

10TH ANNIVERSARY FITNESS CHALLENGE AND KRAV MAGA BOOTCAMP
Due to circumstances, the 10th-anniversary FIT Challenge and Krav Maga boot camp had to be cancelled earlier. However, we don’t want to let this opportunity pass us by, so we’re going ahead with the event after all! We will therefore soon be organising a special Krav Maga boot camp and a FIT Challenge featuring many challenging obstacles. Both will take place on the same day. You can decide for yourself whether you want to attend just one activity or take part in both. Between the activities, there’ll be time for a group lunch (please bring your own).
Date: Sunday 5 June, Whit Sunday.
FIT Challenge times: 10.00 to 13.00
Krav Maga boot camp times: 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
Meeting point: The car park at Bosch Duin.
Cost: Free!
You will receive further information once you have registered. You can register until 10 May via the contact form.
