In this newsletter, we’d like to let you know about all the exciting things coming up at our gym, including the exams, the Women Only Krav Maga course and the outdoor training sessions. We’d also like to share some important updates and news with you.
Outdoor training sessions
Ready for some outdoor training adventures? With lovely weather on the horizon, now’s the perfect time to get out and test your skills in a more realistic environment. Discover how training in the fresh air isn’t just brilliant for you, but also great fun!
From 1 July to 31 September We can head outdoors! In every session, we decide whether to train indoors or outdoors. That depends on the weather and the topics we’ll be covering that day. So make sure you bring both your outdoor trainers and your indoor trainers, and an extra change of clothes in case you get wet during the session, as we sometimes do activities involving water.
In Breda, we have scheduled a number of dates on which we know for certain that we will be training outdoors. This is because the hall is not available during the summer holidays.
So why not come along and join in the outdoor training sessions in Breda:
- Thursday 20 July
- Monday 24 July
- Thursday 17 August
- Monday 21 August
Don’t miss out on these adventurous outdoor experiences! Put on your trainers, make sure you’ve got plenty of energy, and hopefully we’ll see you there!
New Women-Only Krav Maga course
We’ll soon be launching a brand-new series of the Women Only Krav Maga course. This course has been specially designed to give women a powerful introduction to self-defence and Krav Maga. Over the course of nine exciting lessons, you’ll learn how to deal with situations that women, unfortunately, often find themselves in, such as those involving sexual harassment.
You’ll be taking this inspiring course alongside other motivated women, under the guidance of our experienced instructors. Together, we’ll create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can feel at ease whilst training.

The course will take place from 18 September to 20 November 2023 at our Tilburg centre, at Professor Romeinstraat 11a. Classes are always held on Monday evenings, from 8.15 pm to 9.15 pm.
Anyone aged 14 or over can take part. Are you under 14? No problem! We’d love to invite you to attend a taster lesson to see if the course is right for you.
Are you curious to find out what this course has to offer? Then don’t hesitate any longer and Sign up now for a free taster lesson on Monday 4 or 11 September. This way, you can experience what the course has to offer, either on your own or with your mum.

IKMF uniform
We’d like to draw your attention to something important: the IKMF uniform! We wear this uniform during our Krav Maga classes so that we can train safely together. With all that physical contact and those intensive exercises, it’s absolutely vital that we wear the right clothing.
Wearing the IKMF uniform during lessons fosters a sense of unity and equality. What’s more, the kit is made from sturdy material that’s perfect for our training sessions. We’ve noticed that some members often train in loose-fitting clothing, which can tear easily or even be dangerous. That’s why it’s essential to wear the right kit.
Good news: the black cotton IKMF T-shirts have just been restocked! So if you don’t yet have the full kit, we recommend you buy it now.
If you need advice on clothing, please don’t hesitate to send us a message via the contact form. We’d be happy to help!
You can find more information about what you’ll need for the training sessions here.
Let me introduce you to: Emma de Wolff
Some of you may have seen me at the Krav Maga training sessions, but for those of you who don’t know me yet, I’ll introduce myself and explain how I came to be featured in this newsletter.
To make sure that half the newsletter isn’t just about me, I’ve written a short piece for now. Of course, I’d love to share much more with you about myself and what I hope to achieve. That’s why I’d like to direct you to the longer version, which you can here can be found.
My name is Emma and I’m 20 years old. I started doing Krav Maga in the adults’ class when I’d just turned 16. I joined as someone who had absolutely no passion for sport and was quite insecure. Since then, I’ve grown enormously in terms of resilience and self-confidence.
Perhaps a few of you have already noticed, but I’ve recently started doing some different things at the gym. I’m currently working on various behind-the-scenes tasks at Taus Gym, and I’d like to play a bigger part, so if you’ve got any good ideas, please do let me know!
As well as that, I’ve also developed ambitions beyond simply training and taking exams. I’m actually on my way to starting to teach classes and undertaking the instructor training course. At the moment, I’m assisting with the kids’, youth and Women Only Krav Maga classes in both Tilburg and Breda. I really enjoy attending these classes in a different capacity. With the children in particular, it’s a special experience to see how they engage with the class, full of energy and enthusiasm.
I’m also planning to take part in Meet the Marines again next year. I took part last year as well and really enjoyed it. If you’d like to find out more about this, please read the blog Find out more about the 24H Meet the Marines Experience – and who knows, maybe you’ll be joining our team next year.
I’d also, of course, like to attend as many classes as possible, as well as the other events that are being organised. You’ll also see me at the upcoming members’ BBQ on 23 September. I hope to see you all there, and if not, I’ll see you back in class.
Reminder: Register for the IKMF

Column by dietitian Merel Coenders
With these high temperatures, it’s important to find ways to cool down, including through food.
That’s why, in this newsletter, I’m sharing my green smoothie recipe, made with frozen spinach and blueberries. The advantage of frozen fruit and vegetables is that they’re frozen soon after being harvested. This means they retain far more of their vitamins and minerals than fresh produce. What’s more, they’re often cheaper and have a longer shelf life. Time to stock up the freezer!
Green smoothie recipe
The recipe below makes 2 smoothies.
What you’ll need:
- A powerful blender or hand blender.
Ingredients:
- 150 g frozen spinach
- 50 g frozen blueberries
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 green kiwi (with the skin on, if you like, for extra fibre)
- 300 ml unsweetened soya milk
Method:
- Cut the banana and kiwi into pieces. For extra fibre, you can leave the skin on the kiwi.
- Put the fruit, spinach and soya milk into the blender or a tall jug (if using a hand blender). Blend until you have a smooth smoothie.
- Divide the smoothie between 2 glasses. If you like, top with hemp seeds, linseeds or chia seeds.
Enjoy your meal!
