Winter outdoor training sessions

With temperatures dropping and the days getting shorter, we’re ready to set you a new challenge. It’s time for winter outdoor training again!

This time, we’re moving our training sessions to the realistic setting of everyday life – namely, outdoors! Here, you can practise and perfect your Krav Maga skills whilst wearing your everyday clothes and shoes.

So please make sure you bring your everyday clothes with you. We also recommend dressing in layers so that you can put things on or take them off quickly and easily.

Below are the dates on which the winter outdoor training sessions will take place:

  • Tilburg: Wednesday 13 December 2023
  • Breda: Thursday 14 December 2023

Please note! Do bring your usual sports kit with you. If the weather is bad, we’ll be training indoors.

Women-Only Krav Maga Course

We’ll soon be launching a new Women Only Krav Maga course! This course offers women the opportunity to develop both their physical and mental resilience in a powerful way.

We focus on building self-confidence and developing effective self-defence techniques for situations that women in particular are more likely to face, such as harassment and (sexual) violence. Standing up for yourself and setting boundaries are also key parts of the course.

Within a supportive community, you will take the course alongside other women. We understand that every participant has unique experiences and needs, which is why there is plenty of scope for personalised attention. Together, we aim to create a safe and welcoming environment where every woman feels at ease.

You don’t need any experience in self-defence to take part in this course. What’s more, people of all fitness levels and ages are very welcome!

Would you like to find out what the course can do for you? Then come along for a free taster lesson on Monday 8 January and Monday 15 January 2024 and please let us know via the contact form.

Would you like more information? Then have a look at the Women Only course page.

The course itself will take place from 22 January to 25 March 2024. Classes take place every Monday between 8.15 pm and 9.15 pm at our venue in Tilburg, at Professor Romeinstraat 11A.

COLUMN BY DIETITIAN MEREL COENDERS

Resistance

It’s gradually getting colder and wetter outside. As a result, we tend to spend more time indoors, where viruses and other pathogens spread more easily.

So it’s particularly important to boost your immune system during these months.

A healthy diet can help with this, as it provides all the nutrients you need for a properly functioning immune system. So make sure you have a healthy foundation:

  • Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables
  • Choose wholemeal products
  • Eat (plant-based) dairy products every day
  • Eat a handful of unsalted nuts every day
  • Make sure you drink enough fluids

Your gut plays a key role in your immune system. 70% of your immune system begins in the large intestine. This is where the gut bacteria, the intestinal epithelial layer and the intestinal mucosa are found. All three help to identify intruders and keep them out. The gut bacteria also help with the growth and division of immune cells. They ensure that there are enough immune cells available to fight off the pathogen.

It is therefore important to look after your gut properly. You can do this by feeding the good bacteria, thereby stimulating their growth and activity. This helps you maintain a healthy balance and leaves no room in the gut for bad bacteria. Dietary fibre is the food source for gut bacteria. It is found in plant-based foods: vegetables, fruit, wholemeal products, pulses and nuts. Make sure you include these foods in your daily diet as much as possible.
